McCreary 72 Hour Release Access
McCreary County publishes no official 72-hour released-person view. The Sheriff website has no live jail roster, inmate search, booking log, release filter, recent-release page, or photo gallery. There is no official local three-day URL, rolling-window definition, field list, update cadence, retention period, or photograph policy.
The closed jail changes the task. County detainees are placed with a receiving jail under an arrangement that can change. A January 2026 report said Knox County then housed McCreary inmates and described a proposed future move to Whitley County after an expansion. That does not establish the custodian for every later or earlier date.
A three-day search still needs a positive release entry. A name leaving a roster may reflect transfer, lag, or another custody change.
Check McCreary Three-Day Releases
Define the time window before calling. A rolling 72 hours counts back from a precise moment. Three calendar days use date boundaries. Those requests can return different records, especially around midnight. State the desired start and end timestamps and ask for existing entries rather than a newly composed list.
- Gather the full name, aliases, birth date, approximate arrest date, arresting agency, and case number if available.
- Contact the McCreary County Jailer at 606-376-2413 to identify the receiving jail for those dates.
- Review that jail's official portal for a real release option. Do not treat its current roster as three-day history.

A booking charge may not match the final result. Check District and Circuit Court files when the legal disposition matters. The jail log remains the better source for the actual time that jail ended custody.
McCreary Weekend Release Boundaries
A three-day interval can capture a Friday event that no longer fits a Monday same-day check. It can also cover processing across a holiday. Yet no official McCreary source gives a special weekend release hour, holiday delay rule, or standard posting lag. Do not assume one.

McCreary 24 or 72 Hours?
The same-day method works best for a narrowly expected event and a prompt call. The three-day method is better when time is uncertain or the range spans nonbusiness days. Neither exists as an official McCreary online feed.
Use the McCreary 24 hour release process for the narrow range. Keep the requests distinct. Combining them without exact boundaries can create duplicates or leave a gap.
McCreary Release Custodians Can Change
KDOC documented help with the jail closure in 2013. County legacy records name a 2012 closure notice and a 2013 inmate-transport order. The later Knox and proposed Whitley arrangement shows why the physical custodian must be resolved for the date reviewed.
Do not save one out-of-county roster as McCreary's permanent feed. Call the County Jailer, then record which jail was identified. This is vital for a three-day batch because an arrangement can change over time.
Reconcile McCreary Release Events
Compare the receiving-jail log, VINE label, court authority, and destination system. The jail entry records physical custody. The court order explains legal authority. VINE supplies notice. KOOL, BOP, another jail, or ICE may show continued custody or supervision after transfer.
When sources conflict, preserve their exact labels and dates. Do not collapse “transferred,” “not listed,” “parole granted,” and “released” into one status. Request the disputed entry from the agency that created it.
A no-result also needs restraint. Search again with an alias or broader date range, confirm the reporting agency, and ask the custodian before concluding that no record exists.
Request McCreary Three-Day Release Records

For one person, provide a full name, aliases, birth date, approximate arrest date, arresting agency, McCreary case number, and booking number if known. The jail need not create a narrative it does not keep.

A Kentucky prisoner follows a state path even when an institution column names a county jail. Search KOOL by last name and first initial, then verify identity with the PID or DOC number. Read status, location, sentence dates, and parole details exactly. KOOL is not a complete archive of brief county stays.
KDOC Daily Releases is organized by date and can show DOC number, name, release type, releasing institution, and highest felony class. It can help with a three-day state-offender review, but it is not a McCreary bond-out list. Parole or mandatory reentry can mean release from prison while supervision remains active.
If a former record is missing, request it from KDOC Offender Information Services. Do not convert a projected date or parole eligibility date into actual release. Those are calculations or review points.
McCreary Social Posts Have Limits
No McCreary Sheriff mobile app or app-store release feature was found. The official Facebook account can carry selected incident news, but nothing shows that it posts every booking or release. A three-day social scan cannot replace the receiving jail's log.
